CommsCouncil Charter

CommsCouncil is an Online Group for Local Government Communications Managers.

The purpose of CommsCouncil is developing best practices & improving professional standards in NZ Local Government communications management.

CommsCouncil was opened 9 June 2006 and will run indefinitely.

Membership and Roles

Membership of CommsCouncil is open to All Communications, Community Relations, Public Relations and Marketing Managers or Officers, in Councils in NZ. In addition, membership is open to staff and officers of LGOL.

The CommsCouncil Home Page shows the parts of CommsCouncil that can be seen and contributed to by members and non-members.

You are not a member of CommsCouncil. To request Membership, please contact the Participation Coach Jason Dawson (you will have to register before you can see Jason Dawson's email address) .

The Owner of CommsCouncil is LGOL. CommsCouncil is administered by OnlineGroups.Net.

Participation Protocol

By participating in CommsCouncil, members agree to the following.

  • Respect the privacy and intellectual property rights of the other CommsCouncil members. (CommsCouncil is a confidential group; do not forward other people's posts without their consent.)
  • Write clear and thoughtful posts as described in the User Guide.

Participants in CommsCouncil are encouraged to carry out the following.

  • Develop relationships in the sector.
  • Develop and share resources.
  • Share support.
  • Exploit learning opportunities.
  • Explore and discuss effective online collaboration.
